This hitch combines with a Lock 'N' Roll trailer-end coupler (sold separately) to create a safe, secure, fully articulating connection that's great for towing whether you're on the road or off-road. It's more secure than a traditional ball hitch, and it's more comfortable and quieter than a pintle setup. The Lock 'N' Roll connects quickly and easily, and can adapt to any towing conditions.

Strong, Safe Connection

When using a traditional ball coupler, it can be hard to tell if the coupler is fully latched around the ball. You can head out assuming the connection is secure, only to have the trailer pop off of the ball and disconnect while you're towing. With the Lock 'N' Roll, that won't happen.

Lock N Roll Connected

This unique hitch is designed to interlock with a matching trailer-side coupler to form a tight, secure connection. Unlike on a ball coupler, the latching components on the Lock 'N' Roll system are easy to see, so you can tell at a glance if the connection is secure.

Once secure, the Lock 'N' Roll setup offers a wide range of motion, which makes for a smooth ride. Because of the articulating action of the combined hitch and coupler, the Lock 'N' Roll connection can handle the harsh bumps and road shock that could otherwise stress and potentially damage a ball coupler.

The Lock 'N' Roll connection also makes your trailer less vulnerable to theft. Unlike a traditional ball coupler, which is compatible with any hitch ball of a matching size, the trailer-side Lock 'N' Roll coupler can only connect to a vehicle-side Lock 'N' Roll hitch. So your trailer cannot be towed away unless it's connected to a vehicle with a Lock 'N' Roll hitch installed.

With the Lock 'N' Roll, you can have peace of mind knowing your connection will not come apart or succumb to damage caused by road shock, nor will your trailer be vulnerable to theft.

Comfortable Off-Road Towing

The pintle hitch connection is the most common setup when towing off road because of the flexibility in the connection. But that flexible connection can also result in a lot of slop. This can cause uncomfortable jerking as well as rattle and noise. In addition, when using a pintle/lunette ring setup, it can be difficult to back up your vehicle and trailer without jackknifing. And it can be hard to disconnect at certain angles, which may be a necessity when overlanding.

The Lock 'N' Roll assembly, on the other hand, offers a close-fit, slop-free connection that's designed for off-roading. This close-fitting design provides a smoother ride than a pintle/lunette ring connection with less rattle. It also makes it easy to back your vehicle and trailer up without jackknifing.

Offroading Jeep with a Lock 'N' Roll hitch

When combined, the Lock 'N' Roll hitch and coupler also create a fully articulating connection that's great for off-roading. The bearing that's built into the vehicle-end hitch allows for 360 degrees of rotation, which means that your trailer could actually roll all the way over and not take your vehicle with it. The connection also pivots side to side and up and down, making it easy to take rough trails without jarring your setup. This also allows for fast and easy disconnection, even at extreme angles.

How Lock 'N' Roll Works

Lock N Roll Fully Connected

Each Lock 'N' Roll setup requires 2 parts - a trailer end and a vehicle end. Together they create a strong, secure connection. To connect, just line up the trailer end and vehicle end together and place the outer metal tabs of the trailer-end coupler into the hooks on the vehicle-end hitch. Then fold the latching plates on the vehicle-end hitch down and secure them in place over the tabs using the included pin and clip. With the latching plates secured, the Lock 'N' Roll assembly will stay firmly connected.

In Action Diagram

When the trailer-side coupler and vehicle-side hitch are secured together, they form an articulating assembly with 3 axes of directional motion. The uniquely designed bearing on the vehicle-side hitch allows the connection to rotate a full 360 degrees. The trailer-side coupler's hinge allows the connection to pivot to the left and to the right. And when the 2 parts are joined, the tabs will roll inside of the hooks so that the entire assembly can tilt up and down.

Towing with the Lock 'N' Roll is easy, and it gives you a connection that's both flexible and secure.

Seems like a good item. My problem is that it didn’t come assembled or even with the proper bolts or locking pin like shown in the picture or in the video like they said it did. When I called customer service, the representative kept asking where does it say that it does come with those items instead of helping out and seeing that it should come with it. Next time I will order it directly from the manufacturer. Terrible customer service.

I thought that this did not seem right so I reached out to the manufacturer. It does come with the hardware that we show in our pictures. Customer service will be in touch with you so that we can have the hardware sent out.

This only works with the trailer couplers that do not have the articulation on the trailer side. If your trailer coupler has this then you will need a new coupler ad well.

Great quality and perfect fit for my vehicle and off-road trailer.

by:

Very nice strong trailer hitch. This is the second Lock N Roll hitch that I have had and both have performed as expected. I think they have become the preferred option for off-road trailer towing. Built like a tank!

by:

Great product -- works amazing

by:

Excellent. I really liked how the shipping information was updated with the persons name on every step of the process. Arrived quickly. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the receiver didn’t come with the hitch pin that attaches to my trucks receiver. I didn’t notice this when I ordered.

by:

Smooth, no play and peace of mind that your trailer will stay connected

by:

High quality hitch. I don’t give it a 5 star due to high cost of product

by:

Customer service was amazing. Odelia took the time to help me find the right product for my Jeep. She was very friendly and patient with me reviewing the different options! I will return just because of her customer service.

The product itself was as advertised and is well made and easy to install. It was exactly as Odelia indicated. The best part is I also received it a day early, which gave me the time I needed to get it out on even though it was simple. I will shop here again!!! Thank you Odelia and etrailer!

I looked up pictures of the front of your 2018 NuCamp Tag Boondock Edition and it uses a standard A-frame style coupler like what the Lock N Roll Articulating Coupler # 336TS504 is designed to fit so this would work well for you. You'd have to have your old coupler removed and this one welded in place of it. For the shank that slides into the hitch of your vehicle you'd want the part # 336VS501 for a fixed height solution of the part # 336VS503505 which has a three height settings.

The matching trailer side coupler is the part # 336TS528 for a pole tongue trailer or # 336TS504 for an a-frame style coupler. Yes, you could use the Trailer Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers # e48YR with a Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch like part # 336VS503505, but you'll be reducing the capacity of your vehicle's trailer hitch by 50%. If the trailer hitch is rated for 5,000lbs then you'd still have enough capacity for your 2,300lb trailer.

There is a trailer coupler designed specifically to be used for offroading, from Lock N Roll. • Installation of Lock N Roll Coupler on Travel Trailer
Since you have a travel trailer I'm assuming you have an A-frame coupler on it. If that is the case, the only option would be to cut that off and weld on the Lock N Roll Articulating Coupler # 336TS504. I understand not wanting to have to do this, but assuming you plan on off-road towing or overlanding it will be worth it. We recommend taking it to a certified welder for installation. On the vehicle side you will also want a Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch like # 336VS503505.

The Lock N Roll Articulating Coupler # 336TS504 along with the Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch # 336VS503505 is no more difficult to back up a trailer than a standard ball and coupler. As there is less resistance in the motion of this coupler you also do not have to worry about the trailer sticking on the ball mount and not turning especially in the snow when you begin to turn and the rear end of the vehicle begins to slide.
